Just a little BATIM AU I came up with for YGO. The player- assuming this makes it to a fangame- plays as an old friend of Kazuki Takahashi, who helped with the production of Yu-Gi-Oh. They are given a reunion invitation from Takahashi to meet back at their old workplace, seeing as their prized project is celebrating twenty years. The characters have a surprise for them. Kaiba seeks revenge on the player, blaming him for making Atem leave, despite his return in the movie. Kaiba's reason for his anger anyways is that Atem left again. But this time, Atem has come to stay...

The player walks into their old office to see a mangled Dark Magician strapped to an operating table. Just then, Atem reveals himself. But something's wrong with him. His hair is all wavy and the paint is dripping off his hair and clothes, and his cape is melting. His eyes seem bloodshot, violet running from his lower lids. It's almost horrifying.

Takahashi has turned himself into Atem, seeing as so many people miss the first beloved protagonist of his precious franchise. But what is the Pharaoh without his signature monster? His most loyal servant? The Dark Magician? Takahashi wants his old friend's soul sealed within the Dark Magician, tricking him into performing a ritual requiring six of the seven Millennium Items. The ritual is meant to reassemble the Millennium Puzzle and return to it its power. This means the Puzzle needs a soul to take hostage. The Puzzle would then be hung around Dark Magician's neck, allowing the soul inside to use him as its vessel.
